Dr. John Przemieniecki
Dr. John Przemieniecki was born in Poland and earned his PhD and DSc degrees from the University of London. In 1949, he started his career as a structural engineer in England working on the supersonic aircraft Concorde and a Mach 3 supersonic fighter aircraft.
From 1961 to 1995, he held various positions with the U.S. Air Force Institute of Technology (AFIT) as Professor and Associate Dean for research,and as a member of the U.S. Senior Executive Service. Dr. Przemieniecki retired as Senior Dean of AFIT in 1995. President Reagan conferred on him the rank of Distinguished Executive, a rare honor accorded to only a few government executives. In 1999, he received an honorary doctorate from the Warsaw University of Technology.
He is the author of several books, including one of the earliest textbooks on matrix methods for structural analysis: Theory of Matrix Structural Analysis. Dr. Przemieniecki was an early pioneer of the use of finite element analysis techniques. He continues to contribute to the field with his latest book from AIAA, involves new concepts in finite element analysis; Finite Element Structural Analysis: New Concepts. An AIAA Fellow, he was the first Editor-in-Chief of the AIAA Education Series.
